
Shawwal Moon Sighting Announced, Eid-ul-Fitr to Be Celebrated Tomorrow
Islamabad: Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Confirms Moon Sighting
Islamabad (March 30, 2025) – The Shawwal moon has been sighted in various parts of the country, including Islamabad and Lahore, confirming that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow. The announcement was officially made by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, after receiving multiple moon sighting testimonies. The committee held its meeting in Islamabad, where an advanced optical telescope, provided by SUPARCO, was installed on the rooftop of Kohsar Block to enhance the moon-sighting process.
Eid Celebrations Begin in Saudi Arabia and Gulf Countries
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and several Gulf nations are already celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today with great religious enthusiasm. Grand Eid prayers were held in Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Nabawi, and Masjid al-Aqsa. Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais led the Eid prayer in Masjid al-Haram, while Sheikh Abdullah officiated at Masjid al-Nabawi, with thousands of worshippers in attendance. Special prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah. Similarly, a large number of Palestinian Muslims performed Eid prayers at Masjid al-Aqsa. The festival is also being observed in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Turkey, the UK, the USA, and France.
Eid Observance in Pakistan’s Dawoodi Bohra Community
In Pakistan, the Dawoodi Bohra community is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today with religious fervor. The largest congregation took place at Taheri Mosque in the Saddar area of Karachi, where a significant number of community members gathered for Eid prayers. Additional prayer gatherings were held in Pan Mandi, Soldier Bazaar, Baloch Colony, North Nazimabad, and Hyderi. Special supplications were made for national stability, peace, and prosperity.
Eid Schedule in Other Countries
In contrast, countries including Iran, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Australia, India, and Bangladesh did not receive moon sighting confirmations and have declared Eid celebrations for Monday. Similarly, many European countries, including Greece and Austria, have officially announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed tomorrow.
